Spread the love

There are so many ways in which we can achieve smoother skin both naturally, and not so naturally.

Here I will explore 6 natural ways of how to get smooth skin in order of my favourite techniques.

Smooth skin is sexy skin.

And my favourite thing of all, is when you look sexy you feel sexy and you exude sexiness.  This is a great relationship boost for you and your partner.

1. Drink more water

how to get smooth skinThis is by far the easiest and best way to achieve all over skin smoothness and elasticity.

As we age, we lose collagen which is the part of skin that keeps it looking taut and wrinkle free.  An easy way to help support the formation of more collagen is to provide plenty of water for the structures to build on.

Water also helps to plump up the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles by also increasing blood flow to your capillaries.

2. Vitamin C

Adding lemon to your water is a great way to increase Vitamin C levels and Vitamin C is great for your antioxidant levels thereby reducing the free radicals in your blood that contribute to the premature ageing of cells.  Lemon water has so many benefits, good skin is only part of this.

Topical Vitamin C creams can help decrease sun damage from UV rays, reducing inflammation and boosting your skin’s natural collagen production.

3. Avocado

A popular way to use avocados for skin health is to simply apply a mashed up avocado directly to your face and neck and then rinse off after 15 minutes.

The essential oils contained therein closely match those found in our how to get smooth skinown skin and will help to nourish and rejuvenate.

Avocado is choc-full of antioxidants as well vitamins A, E and C which all have anti-ageing effects and make your skin appear more youthful and supple.

Try an avocado smoothie by blending a whole ripe avocado with a cup of full cream milk and a teaspoon of honey.  This will have wonderful benefits for your skin by moisturising and nourishing it from within for a glowing, healthy complexion.

4. Coconut Oil

People living in tropical areas of the globe where coconuts are readily available have long been using coconut oil on their skin as a natural sunscreen.

Consuming coconut oil will increase fatty deposits under the skin and make the skin appear evenly toned increasing smoothness.

5. Exfoliate

Exfoliating is an essential part of any beauty routine as it involves how to get smooth skinscrubbing dead skin particles away and cleaning the pores thereby allowing the skin to replenish with healthy new cells.

For a natural exfoliant with a built in moisturising effect try combining salt or sugar with coconut oil and massage into the skin.

Another great exfoliant recipe combines 1/2 cup cooked rice, 1tblsp agave nectar and 1tbsp of lemon juice.  The agave hydrates while the lemon juice lightens and tightens the skin.  This one is especially good on the backs of your hands.  Apply with a circular motion for 2 minutes before rinsing.

To replenish the skin on your face leaving it looking brighter and more youthful, scrub it with sugar, almond meal a couple of tablespoons of dollop cream and a dash of olive oil.

6. Honey

how to get smooth skinThis is another natural food product that is absolutely amazing for the skin by having an anti-inflammatory and an anti-ageing effect.

Including Vitamin B and polyphenols, honey fights the free radicals that have a detrimental effect to our skin.  Wrinkles are reduced and skin appears smoother.

So, before using expensive and harsh creams and lotions with unknown chemical ingredients in the quest for beauty, it is nice to know you can look first in your own pantry.

Natural skin care is the best way to get smoother younger looking skin by reducing inflammation and free radicals, and therefore having an anti-ageing effect.

What’s not to love about that?!

The results speak for themselves.

Look after your skin from inside and out and enjoy smoother skin.

Got any natural skin care tips to add?

Love,

Kris

    Hi Guys!

Do you miss something in your title? 😉
I like the idea that you can do everything in “home spa”. There is no need to go to the beautician and pay hundred of dollars for something similar, but with a different name.
I hope to find more and more ideas to be pretty!
    Keep a great job.

Hi Simon, thanks for the comment, but no that is exactly how I wanted the title to read!

Home spas are the best, mainly because they are so cost effective! At my home alone I have an avocado tree, and a lemon tree and all the other ingredients I already have in my pantry! Winning!

Hey there ! So awesome to read your article. Your tips are priceless and I am going to follow them – Because I want a smooth skin and get rid of that Akne that I had for the past 7 years. I was drinking a lot of water and following some diet plans, but I didn’t know about honey, lemon and vitamin C. Thank you very much, you really helped me out – I hope this will really help me with my goal.

Alexey, that is so great that you have found such value in my post today! Another bonus one just for you is the use of a basil toner for treating acne. You add boiling water to a cup of basil leaves and then muddle them while they soak. Let the water cool, drain the leaves away and apply the ‘toner’ to your face as part of your daily beauty routine. This has great effects on acne prone skin especially by unclogging the pores and increasing circulation to the face.
Let me know what you think!

    Blame

Sounds pretty easy to do. Avocado and coconut oil sounds absolutely delicious to go for. I guess getting nice skin is just a walk to the supermarket.

My wife will most likely love your suggestions. As for the honey. Is there a specific brand you have in mind? Or does any kind of honey work?

      Hi Blame,

If you look for raw honey, it will be better because it is unpasteurised and hasn’t been heat treated so it retains its natural goodness with higher levels of antioxidants and phytonutrients.

      Hope you love it!

      Cheers, Kris

Great tips! I have always preferred natural cosmetics to fancy chemical products.
I didn’t know about Vitamin C though, and it totally makes sense!
About the honey, do you think there is a particular type that would be better than the others, considering the floral source? And do you think raw honey is better than pasteurized honey when it comes to its cosmetic use?

Hi Paula, thanks for stopping by! Look for raw honey. It hasn’t been heat treated or pasteurized so it contains higher levels of antioxidants and enzymes.

I am all about natural remedies and chemical free options, so it was nice to see a like minded post. I already use coconut oil to wash my face but liked the idea of a homemade avocado mask as well.
I definitely need to drink more water and may need to step up the vitamin c as well. Good suggestions.

I love your tips to achieving smooth skin. Using natural products is always the best because you know there are no hidden dangerous chemicals in them.
My favourite one is coconut oil- I even use it on my kids skin when they have rough patches! it acts as a moisturiser and works amazingly!
