There are so many ways in which we can achieve smoother skin both naturally, and not so naturally.
Here I will explore 6 natural ways of how to get smooth skin in order of my favourite techniques.
Smooth skin is sexy skin.
And my favourite thing of all, is when you look sexy you feel sexy and you exude sexiness. This is a great relationship boost for you and your partner.
1. Drink more water
This is by far the easiest and best way to achieve all over skin smoothness and elasticity.
As we age, we lose collagen which is the part of skin that keeps it looking taut and wrinkle free. An easy way to help support the formation of more collagen is to provide plenty of water for the structures to build on.
Water also helps to plump up the skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles by also increasing blood flow to your capillaries.
2. Vitamin C
Adding lemon to your water is a great way to increase Vitamin C levels and Vitamin C is great for your antioxidant levels thereby reducing the free radicals in your blood that contribute to the premature ageing of cells. Lemon water has so many benefits, good skin is only part of this.
Topical Vitamin C creams can help decrease sun damage from UV rays, reducing inflammation and boosting your skin’s natural collagen production.
3. Avocado
A popular way to use avocados for skin health is to simply apply a mashed up avocado directly to your face and neck and then rinse off after 15 minutes.
The essential oils contained therein closely match those found in our
own skin and will help to nourish and rejuvenate.
Avocado is choc-full of antioxidants as well vitamins A, E and C which all have anti-ageing effects and make your skin appear more youthful and supple.
Try an avocado smoothie by blending a whole ripe avocado with a cup of full cream milk and a teaspoon of honey. This will have wonderful benefits for your skin by moisturising and nourishing it from within for a glowing, healthy complexion.
4. Coconut Oil
Containing saturated fats and essential fatty acids direct application of coconut oil to the skin helps to retain its moisture content. Coconut oil has been praised for years due to its antioxidant, antimicrobial and therefore anti-ageing properties.
People living in tropical areas of the globe where coconuts are readily available have long been using coconut oil on their skin as a natural sunscreen.
Consuming coconut oil will increase fatty deposits under the skin and make the skin appear evenly toned increasing smoothness.
5. Exfoliate
Exfoliating is an essential part of any beauty routine as it involves
scrubbing dead skin particles away and cleaning the pores thereby allowing the skin to replenish with healthy new cells.
For a natural exfoliant with a built in moisturising effect try combining salt or sugar with coconut oil and massage into the skin.
Another great exfoliant recipe combines 1/2 cup cooked rice, 1tblsp agave nectar and 1tbsp of lemon juice. The agave hydrates while the lemon juice lightens and tightens the skin. This one is especially good on the backs of your hands. Apply with a circular motion for 2 minutes before rinsing.
To replenish the skin on your face leaving it looking brighter and more youthful, scrub it with sugar, almond meal a couple of tablespoons of dollop cream and a dash of olive oil.
6. Honey
This is another natural food product that is absolutely amazing for the skin by having an anti-inflammatory and an anti-ageing effect.
Including Vitamin B and polyphenols, honey fights the free radicals that have a detrimental effect to our skin. Wrinkles are reduced and skin appears smoother.
So, before using expensive and harsh creams and lotions with unknown chemical ingredients in the quest for beauty, it is nice to know you can look first in your own pantry.
Natural skin care is the best way to get smoother younger looking skin by reducing inflammation and free radicals, and therefore having an anti-ageing effect.
What’s not to love about that?!
The results speak for themselves.
Look after your skin from inside and out and enjoy smoother skin.
